For many of us, walking is a way of life. It’s a relaxing way to pass the time, enjoy nature, go places, and get some much-needed exercise. If you walk a lot, you might think that making a few extra bucks from walking would be nice.

A number of mobile applications pay people to walk. One example is the CashWalk app.

If you take regular walks, then this could mean extra income. However, you may be skeptical about whether the CashWalk app is legitimate. After all, you won’t want to waste your time on false promises.

In this article, we’ll tell you all you need to know about the CashWalk app, including some hacks, tips, and crucial information about how it works.

We’ve perused independent sites and reviews from real users to paint you the whole picture—read on to learn more!

In a rush? Here are the key takeaways from the article:

  • CashWalk is a legitimate app, BUT it will take a lot of walking to earn a decent income. You'll need to walk 40,000 steps to earn a single dollar.
  • This means that the average American who walks 4,000 steps a day would take 50 days to reach the minimum cash out of $5.
  • We think there are more passive and fun ways to earn money like MobileXpression, which pays you just to use your phone. Or Mistplay, which pays you to play games. Even Inbox Dollars gives you $5 for free just to sign up.

What is CashWalk?

According to their official website, CashWalk is a free-to-download mobile app that enables users to earn money just by walking and running.

Essentially, it’s a pedometer (step counter) and fitness tracker app with the added benefit of paying you digital currency.

The app can be embedded in your lock screen to track your steps. It also provides information on the distance you’ve traveled, calories you’ve burned, and other analytics from past activity. It helps motivate its users to stay fit by incentivizing their workouts.

The developer, CashWalk Labs, Inc., states that the app lets you acquire StepCoins by staying fit, and you can then use these coins to get gift cards from various well-known brands.

We learned, though, that CashWalk Labs, Inc. is a fairly new player in the mobile app development world.

It’s been active since 2020 and only released one app—CashWalk. It’s based in San Jose, California, and there seems to be little information about them online.

Even the website doesn’t say much about the company. Because this developer is relatively new and obscure, many users, including us, wonder if CashWalk is a legit app that really pays.

Now, let’s get into how it works.

How does CashWalk work?

CashWalk works by acting as a pedometer program that counts the number of our steps when we walk or run.

For every 100 steps we take, the app provides us with StepCoins, a type of digital point system that we can exchange for cash-valued gift cards and other rewards within the app. In essence, we can earn goods just by walking.

How do you make money on CashWalk?

We can make money on the CashWalk app in three main ways: earning StepCoins by walking, playing the scratch-a-card game, and participating in the app’s referral program.

Let’s dive into these methods.

1. Earning StepCoins by walking

As mentioned above, the most prominent method of earning money from the app is by walking. The app uses your phone’s sensors to count your steps, and for every 100 steps you take, you will gain a StepCoin.

  • We’ve found that the app has a clean, minimalist interface that makes it easy to navigate.
  • We were able to set the app to operate on our lock screen instead of having it constantly on display and draining our phone’s battery. This way, it can passively detect our steps as we go for a walk or a quick run.
  • The app detects our steps through our phone’s accelerometer. It doesn’t count our steps by distance, so it doesn’t use GPS, which can drain your batteries faster.
  • Another good thing about the app using our mobile phone’s accelerometer is that we can use it while we’re running or walking on a treadmill. Because of this, we don’t have to leave the house to earn coins.

The drawback here, though, is that we can’t earn an unlimited amount of StepCoins. The app limits how many StepCoins we can earn in a day, so we’re not able to get more coins once we’ve reached the daily cap of 1,000 steps.

2. Play the scratch-a-card game

Another way to get rewards on the CashWalk app is to play the scratch-a-card game. This feature is rather straightforward—you only have to swipe away at a digital card in the app, and you can win prizes.

The app gave us two free chances of winning prizes a day and a randomized number of coins. The app says it can reach up to 10,000.

Aside from the two chances the app offers daily, we can also watch video ads to get prizes. You may repeat this until the app doesn’t show any more ads to watch.

We feel that this method of earning StepCoins in the app is less reliable than just walking because it’s more about luck than effort. However, we think it’s still worth a try because you don’t lose anything—you only have to spend a few minutes watching video advertisements from various sponsors.

You can play the video ads while stretching or resting. When you use the app daily, the rewards can add up. So, this is a neat feature to have if you’re a regular user.

3. Join the referral program

Much like other similar apps, CashWalk has a referral program wherein you get rewards when you invite other people to download and use the app. All you have to do here is get your invite link and share it with other people.

When other people download and join the app using the link you’ve shared, they will have to complete an SMS verification process. Once they complete it, you’ll receive 100 StepCoins. This condition is to ensure that users don’t just spam multiple accounts just for profit.

Who is CashWalk best for?

CashWalk is best for those who love staying fit and want to get a few rewards by walking or running. It’s a helpful app if you need a little more motivation as you go through your routine.

As of writing, the app is only available on Android, but if you’re an iPhone user, don’t fret. A version for iOS is currently in the works, according to the developers.

How do you sign up and get started with CashWalk?

The sign-up process for CashWalk is quite simple. Simply download the app from Google Play, or if you’re an iPhone user, pre-register on their website

Then, they’ll take you to their registration process. They will require an email address to reach you. Then, you can use the app as you please.

Is there available support?

You can get support for the app through its support page, as their main website doesn’t provide any contact information for you to reach out to them. They also have a contact form within the app itself.

If you have other particular questions that you feel other users may be able to answer, you can make a post about your troubles on CashWalk on Reddit. The subforum r/beermoney, for instance, has a number of CashWalk users that may be able to share their experiences.

How much money can you make on CashWalk?

The answer to this question depends on how frequently you use the app. However, as mentioned above, there’s a cap of 1,000 steps or a total of 10 StepCoins per day.

We’ve found this cap to be severely limiting because it could take weeks of regular walking to claim the rewards. However, the app can still be valuable if you’re a regular walker or runner, as it can reward you for staying fit and exercising regularly.

Why do these types of apps pay you to walk, anyway? The answer lies in advertisements—these applications earn from their sponsors, and they give away a fraction of their earnings to users through those rewards.

How do you get paid?

With a name like CashWalk, you might be expecting the app to pay you in cash. If this is what you’re looking for in the app, then you might be disappointed. The StepCoins that you accumulate aren’t convertible to cash.

The app does pay in other ways, however. You can exchange the coins you’ve earned for a wealth of gift cards from various brands like eBay, Whole Foods, Walmart, Uber, and more. You will need at least 1,500 StepCoins to redeem a $5 gift card.

Overall, we believe it’s not a bad deal if you’re a regular walker who can use a bit of a reward every once in a while.

CashWalk: Pros and cons

CashWalk has a unique set of benefits, but it also has some points for improvement.

Pros of CashWalk

We’ve tried the app ourselves, and here are some of the strong points that are worth noting:

  • Minimalist and simple interface
  • Provides a unique way of earning rewards
  • Not data-heavy and doesn’t use GPS, which could drain your phone’s battery quickly

The app is simple and easy to use as well—you can just open it, use its lock screen feature, then proceed with your walk.

Cons of CashWalk

Here are the areas of the app that we feel need some improvement:

  • The coins aren’t convertible to cash
  • The daily limit is quite low

Some users even note that the app shows too many ads or downloads other apps through the lock screen feature, which many users view as a security concern.

Tips and tricks to increase your earnings

Because there’s a set limit of coins that you can earn on the app, there aren’t many ways to increase your earnings.

It’s heavy on the daily grind, so you’ll just have to use it regularly, reach 1,000 steps every day, and look into the other methods of earning within the app, such as the scratch-a-card game and the referral program.

You can also use another app like Sweatcoin together with CashWalk to maximize your rewards as you get some much-needed exercise.

Alternatives to CashWalk

Here are some of the best apps that pay you for walking:

  • SweatCoin: This free app is available on both Android and iOS, and it functions similarly to CashWalk, wherein you earn points by walking.
  • Stepbet: With this app, you can set fitness goals every week and earn cash for your accomplishments. You can install Stepbet for free on both Android and iOS as well.
  • FitPotato: This is an iOS app that also rewards you for walking, running/jogging, or even walking your dog.

The Bottom Line: Is CashWalk legit?

CashWalk is indeed a legit step counter app that does what it’s supposed to do—giving rewards for your steps.

It works well for motivation because it drives you to walk regularly, but it doesn’t pay in cash. You can only redeem gift cards on the app, and it can take you weeks of walking to earn enough to do so.

Although it takes weeks of grinding to give you usable rewards, we still recommend this app if you’re a regular runner who wants to earn on the side. It’s also helpful if you want to stay on top of your workout routines. We hope this review has been helpful for you!
